Hair Removal FAQ

What is waxing?
Waxing removes unwanted hair at the root. There are two different types of waxes: hard and soft. Soft wax is applied warm to the skin in a thin layer in the direction of hair growth. Cloth strips are then applied to the warm wax, rubbed in the direction of hair growth, and quickly pulled off in the opposite direction. This method is best used on larger areas of the body such as the legs, back or chest. Hard wax is used without cloth strips. It is applied warm, in a layer about the thickness of a nickel, allowed to dry and then removed quickly in the opposite direction of hair growth. Hard wax is less irritating to sensitive skin and is excellent for the bikini, underarm and facial areas.

What kind of wax do you use?
Cirépil Wax by Perron Rigot.

At Cirépil by Perron Rigot, we believe: “It’s not just about what we remove. It is about what we leave behind… Healthy Skin!” Unlike traditional methods of waxing, Cirépil wax sticks to the hair rather than the skin, reducing the pain of waxing by 50%! Cirépil wax encapsulates the hair, removing it from the root while leaving the skin undamaged. When the integrity of the skin is uncompromised, there is reduced inflammation, redness and downtime for the client; making painful waxing a thing of the past!

Prior to waxing, your Esthetician will first prepare and cleanse your skin with Cirépil Antiseptic Blue Lotion, a low-alcohol cleanser especially recommended for delicate areas and sensitive skin. Next, a few drops of Cirépil Pre Depilatory Jasmin Oil will be applied to the skin to ensure the wax adheres only to the hair, and not the skin.

Once the hair has been removed through waxing, your skin will be refreshed with an application of Finipil antiseptic cream that will calm the skin by reducing redness and inflammation so you can leave your appointment satisfied and confident.

What’s a hair removal system?
Nufree is the gold standard in hair removal and is carried by thousands of professional salons throughout the world. It was developed over 25 years ago to help plastic surgeons remove hair from a patient before surgery. Here are just a few of the reasons why Nufree is the most effective hair removal treatment in the world.

  • Nufree is NOT A WAX and never sticks to the skin.
  • Nufree is self-preserving antibacterial/ antimicrobial so it’s
    safe, clean and germ free.
  • Nufree is completely BOTANICAL and safe for the entire body.
  • Nufree doesn’t dry and can be erased any time.
  • Nufree is scientifically tested and uses no animal products.

What kind of aftercare do you use?
We use finipil antiseptic lotion is for application immediately after hair removal treatments and in between treatments. It should be used daily – on damp skin. This keeps the skin sanitary and the follicles clean.

  • Kills 99.999% of germs
  • Cools
  • Moisturizes
  • Protects the empty follicle
  • Replaces cataphoresis
  • FDA registered over-the-counter antiseptic
  • Clinically tested
  • Helps to prevent ingrown hairs
  • Dermatologist certified

Is there any type of wax that is better for sensitive skin?
Sensitive skin has special needs and wax that contains ingredients designed for sensitive skin is the best kinds of wax to be used. Any of Cirépil by Perron Rigot waxes can be used on sensitive skin. In particular, our strip wax, Cirépil Cristal Ocean, and our Cristalline stripless wax. Confidence Esthetics stocks both.

What should I do between hair removal/waxing appointments?
Exfoliate! To improve waxing results and reduce your chances of getting ingrown hairs, exfoliate. It is recommended that a few days prior to, and after your waxing appointment, you gently exfoliate the skin. You can exfoliate as much as 3 times a week. Removing dead skin cells keeps your skin healthy and soft in-between waxing with a loofah, either flat or cylindrical, before your shower.

What aftercare advice should I follow after a Brazilian waxing?
As with all waxing, Brazilian waxing post-care includes exfoliation and moisturizing. Use a dry, flat loofah as your exfoliant and finpil antiseptic cream as your moisturizer. For 24 hours after waxing, it is important to avoid increasing circulation through any form. This includes exercise, tanning, spicy food and sexual activity. Increasing blood flow and body temperature after waxing can aggravate waxed areas and prolong the presence of inflammation, redness and the potential for infection of the hair follicle.
